Motorized Screens

Privacy

The applications and uses for a motorized screen are endless. One of the extraordinary benefits that motorized screens can provide is privacy.

For example, a customer may purchase a motorized screen with Phifer SunTex® 95 for solar protection and sun control, but the customer would quickly realize that it provided complete daytime privacy while still allowing an external unobstructed view. That is one of the many examples of our motorized screens performing dual roles and providing multiple benefits.

Screens Designed for the Specific Purpose of Privacy

SunPro Motorized Awnings & Screens manufacturers many screens that are designed for the specific purpose of privacy. Whether someone lives in a condo complex with close neighbors or would like to enjoy their pool under a bird cage screen without prying eyes, SunPro has a solution. We use, as our standard privacy product, Phifer SheerWeave® 2500 1% Screen and Phifer SheerWeave® 7100 Blackout Screen. These products were originally designed for interior applications but work exceptionally well for a motorized screen application.

SheerWeave® 2500 1%

Manufactured with ease of fabrication in mind, SheerWeave 2500 is full basketweave designed expressly for those applications requiring a more-opaque and nondirectional fabric. It also works well in exterior roller shades. This product blocks 99 percent of the solar UV rays and provides complete privacy.

SheerWeave® 7100 Blackout

Offering total light blockage, SheerWeave 7100 is the only blackout fabric that’s infused with Microban and is designed to coordinate easily with SheerWeave Styles 2000 and 2100. This product provides complete blackout performance and is fantastic for interior applications.

SheerWeave® Features

Dow Ecolibrium

Dow Ecolibrium Bio-Based Plasticizers offer a renewable alternative to traditional petroleum-based plasticizers for a more-sustainable option. This unique green technology is exclusive to Phifer for the window treatment industry and can be found only in SheerWeave fabrics. SheerWeave fabrics manufactured with Dow Ecolibrium maintain all the established benefits of traditional vinyl such as durability, cleanability and fabric longevity.

Ecolibrium benefits include:

GREENGUARD®

GREENGUARD certification ensures products have met some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into indoor air. Phifer was the first manufacturer in the window-treatment industry to achieve GREENGUARD certification for interior shading fabrics. Certification is completely voluntary and ensures that the highest industry standards are being applied to maintain indoor air quality for the health and safety of building occupants. For more information on Phifer’s GREENGUARD certified products, please contact us.

Microban®

Phifer sun control fabrics are the only shade fabrics in the world to include Microban protection. Microban antimicrobial protection works continuously to inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew that can cause stains, odors and product deterioration.

Flame Retardant

SheerWeave® fabrics are ideal for commercial applications or kitchen spaces and are designed to meet rigorous flame certification standards based on national and local requirements. Check the flame certification standards requirements for a project to verify compliance.

Energy Savings

Phifer’s broad range of SheerWeave fabrics provides excellent reduction in solar heat gain for a more comfortable environment and less work for your air conditioner. Allowing diffused natural light in, SheerWeave may also reduce the need for additional interior lighting for added savings. Check out our Energy Efficient page to learn more.

Safe Use

The Safe Use designation provides assurance that our products are compliant with some of the most stringent standards for chemical content in the world, including RoHS, REACH, ANSI/WCMA A 100.1 -2007 and US Consumer Product Safety Commission Section 101 for lead content. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, certain levels of exposure to lead, a toxin that can be found in everything from painted toys and furniture to window blinds, can result in a variety of health effects. Even low levels of exposure in areas such as bedrooms and nurseries can be harmful to children. The safe-use stamp marks another confirmation of Phifer’s commitment to remain environmentally responsible.

Noise Reduction

NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) values for both BASIC 3%, Style 2500 and Performance+ 2500 are excellent. Although different materials may have the same NRC value, the one that absorbs more of the intelligible speech frequencies is a more effective product for controlling sound in an office environment. Human hearing is most sensitive to certain frequencies that are, understandably, the same as that of human speech. Within this range, SheerWeave BASIC 3%, Style 2500 and Performance+ 2500 have even more significant performance in absorbing sound with individual measurements ranging from 0.71 to 0.83.

BASIC 3% NRC .60
Style 2500 NRC .55
Performance+ NRC .55

PVC Free

When a more-environmentally sensitive and sustainable fabric option is preferred, Phifer offers several PVC-free fabrics in multiple openness factors and blackout collections.

Printable

Printing unique colors, patterns, logos and graphics on SheerWeave opens a whole new opportunity for product applications. SheerWeave fabrics are ideal for digital and screen printing methods. Your local printer can recommend the best print options based on its capabilities.

Melanoma International Foundation

The Melanoma International Foundation (MIF) is an organization established in 2003 to provide sound guidance and support by a Scientific Advisory Board of credentialed medical professionals and melanoma specialists. MIF provides free screenings and educational opportunities to communities nationwide. Phifer sun shading fabrics have been independently tested for their effectiveness in preventing sun damage to the skin and eyes as required by MIF standards. The MIF seal of approval is awarded to manufacturers of fabrics that demonstrate high performance in traditional shading devices such as umbrellas, awnings, sun shades and other complimentary sun protective products, including sunscreen lotion and sun-protective clothing.

TrackLess Technology®

All SheerWeave fiberglass yarn fabrics now feature Phifer’s unique TrackLess Technology. This breakthrough technology minimizes the fiberglass yarn’s inherent qualities to track when being rolled up in a shade, especially in spaces like living rooms where you might adjust your shades frequently throughout the day. With TrackLess Technology, these same fabrics will track less, roll up straighter and reduce shade fabrication time.
